I asked about Colorado Springs only when I should have asked about both Colorado Springs and Ft Collins.
I see that Ft Collins is highly rated as a community. But, some say that compared to Denver area the weather and trails are just not up to par. But, of course they are all from Denver Metro.
You who have experience in Ft Collins; how is the cycling? I mainly ride a road bike.
How easy is it to get around in town using only a bike? (Groceries, shopping, etc)

Fort Collins is a bike town, Denver has some cycle infrastructure depending on where you live in Denver.

What do you mean? I've ridden in Denver but not Ft Collins; which is why I'm asking the question.
From the maps I've seen there doesn't seem to be many dedicated paths or trails. But, I'm not at all sure I'm seeing the full picture.

You can ride from LaPorte to Greeley on MUPS with connection via Harmony Rd bike Lanes. You can view trail network via Google Earth file.
(Network doesn't include/show many of the bike lanes though, mainly MUPS & MTB trails.)

Fort Collins has some classic rides over horsetooth and around Stove Prarie. you can also head north on some lightly used county roads past Masonville. And the town itself is VERY bike friendly, the sherrif? Not so much so.
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.
You're working with out-dated info. The new Sheriff is, in fact, quite bike friendly, as is his civilian XO, and many of his employees. Some of the folks from the Sheriff's office do a Saturday morning no-drop ride from the Sheriff's office to the Bellevue Bean in Bellevue. I visited in SEP and was impressed with what I saw. One thing of note, the city was pretty flat. One could easily get by with a 1-8 speed depending on the usual issues. As a cyclist, i would be quite pleased to live there.
thats true. the city has a very gentle downhill slope away from the foothills but within the city itself there very few significant hills. but the Reservoir road climbs are just minutes away and present some of the best interval hill work anywhere.
