    River Mountain Trail Complete

I did a little 15 minute video on the last section completed on the River Mountain Trail. People in other states hated it but we'll like it here.
    It really is kinda fun.

Hmmm. Can't get it to open in a YouTube window. I wonder why..

Nice video, that loop is a ton of fun. I've seen one of the fattest Coyotes ever out by the lake. Its a different ride than Red Rocks, but a very worthy ride for beauty and challenge.

I rode a segment of the trail along Lake Mead and the Railroad Trail on my visit to Vegas a couple of weeks ago.
The whole loop seems like it would be a good ride - hilly I bet.

A video of the downhill on the 3 Sisters would be a great video, that is your next assignment! Use duct tape, your camera might blow off.

I have excellent video of the 3 Sisters downhill. I'm on vacation week after next and I will finish the footage of the entire River Mountain Trail including some nice stills. Should be posted the end of October.

I should be riding that, but I'm getting dusty in Sloan Canyon instead. Looking forward to your vids.

No. I've ridden it many times. I do get a little antsy at 40mph over the cracks though.
I'll put a video together after I get back from my motorcycle trip next week.

    Igo,

    Looking forward to your video.

I have been riding from 1218 Equestrian Drive dog run parking lot, to Bootleg Canyon and return, most every Sunday morning @ sunrise... I ride every day, stop light to stop light, and need the (Friday - Red Rock to Blue diamond) & (Sunday - Bootleg Canyon ride) trying to learn to ride beyond a block or two... Three sisters downhill is fun, but the return over them back to Equestrian Drive is still beyond me climbing skills, I need to come out of the pedals and walk a bit cresting the summit of two of three sisters...

I come out of the saddle every time. Bikes are new to me but I've been hiking for many years. One day, on the Lake side of the trail I was barely passed by a guy on a mountain bike who was peddling 3 times as fast as I was. It only took seeing the next 2 or 3 people who passed me to realize that ALL of them have 3 ring cranks. No wonder I'm getting such a work out. HAhHAhahaa
Today it turned Autumn in the Vegas Valley. Sunday I head into Utah for a 5 day motorcycle tour. I think I will ride the entire RMT loop for the first time on Saturday, when the high will be a most welcomed 75 degrees. I've been dreaming of that day. I think the RMT is an absolute gift.

Those rides are a blast. I ride from Horizon Ridge to Bootleg from time to time. Maybe someday we can co ordinate and have coffee at the Starbucks in Boulder. I can ride down 3 sisters towards LLV, but it is a hike back up.

It's always good, especially since it is fully completed. Have you done the full loop?

    Nice video!

What would be an easier ride to try first? The river mountain trail or the red rock loop?

The River Mountain trail is 34 miles, and no car traffic. The Red Rock loop is 13 miles and easier, but you have to ride on the road with the cars.

I did what was open on the loop last year a couple times getting ready for the VIVABIKEVEGAS. Its a great sightseeing and climbing ride. That long climb from the visitor center back into BC always kicks my tail. There is a bright green C-store that always calls to me and provides a 16oz Mountain Dew as a reward.

I just got off the trail. I stopped many times to just gaze at the vast vistas. It was in the 60s, wind less than 5 mph and bone dry. I'd have to say it was a perfect ride. The fact that I'm on vacation didn't take away from the mood either.

BTW, I cheat. I ride up the Burkholder trail to meet the River Mountain Trail at the Water treatment facility then I ride downhill from Boulder City to the lake. Then I peddle up through the middle pay station then get off the trail and on to Lake Mead Parkway at Lake Las Vegas and ride Lake Mead Parkway home. I've never peddled up the Sisters or the Lake to Boulder City grades. HAhAhhhaa. I figure that's alright. I just started riding bikes in May. I'm 52 years old and if you lived your life the way I've lived mine, you'd think it was alright for me to peddle up those hills dead.

I might have you beat! I'm 57 and lived by the motto, Live hard, Die young and leave a worn out corpse. Then I got to the point that I was worn out and was going to last a while. Kinda kidding there. I'm better now than I was at 52 thanks to fixing the bike and riding again. As for those Sisters, I can't climb that grade. I've never been ashamed of pushing my bike uphills. But that ride back into town is a good ride. Many good people out there. But when I'm out there I usually golfing at Tuscany.

That trail looks like a heck of a lot of fun.
