Best prices on groupsets?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Best prices on groupsets?

In general, what websites are good for pricing on groups? I have done the "google search" method and looked around on ebay a little, but wanted to see if there are any decent sites that you have to be in the know about.

Shinybikes for me. Actually, a 2011 Chorus group just showed up today. I am excited, and it was cheap, and quick.

https://www.bike24.de/manufacturers/Shimano.html

If you scroll way down, you'll see the groupsets. I know at one point, I posted that link and some people posted other links where prices were slightly lower. But, you'd have to click on my over 500 messages to find it I guess. The prices for customers outside of Europe of course is slightly lower due to the fact they take out the VAT.

But, yeah, it's a pretty interesting idea. I mean I calculated once if I bought Handspun wheels with Deore LX hubs and Velocity rims, a Nashbar touring frameset and a Deore M590 trekking groupset, it might only cost me around $720. But the Shimano Deore LX trekking group is also available.

I like the V-brake groupsets but sometimes wonder if the disk brake groupsets are really worth it.

They have the best price at any time. Better than others with sales really. Good service too and quick. There is minimal shipping charges involved, so calculate appropriately when comparing to others, but still cheaper!!!

I've seen this in another thread in the General Cycling Subforum. www.merlincycles.co.uk They have compact Ultegra 6700 for $740, Chorus 11 for $908. I remember seeing 5600 groupset for $367 at some point as well.

Edit: Correction on the $367 price, apparently that price has the groupset with Tektro brake calipers. Full 5600 is $444

I actually bought my 6700 groupset in two batches from Shiny bikes and Ribble (sale pricing) and in my experience Ribble's shipping was very fast (ordered wednesday, got it monday @ East coast), while Shiny bikes was slow to ship and very little protection in the package which resulted in a dent on the crankset. But they were very quick in resolving the issue and they offered a sizeable refund. And it looks like I'm in the minority with the packaging problems so I would try buying from them again.

I've been looking at Ribble as well, but there are several Rival groupsets on ebay for around $650-$699 now with free shipping.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions so far. There really are some nice prices out there.
I cannot decide if I want to buy a nicer set for mine and give my set of 105 down, or if I just want to get that new 10sp Tiagra set for my son. I would even be happy if I could find a complete 9sp. group for him in the Tiagra...cause I really like my 105...I would guess stepping into some Ultegra myself would be a similar experience to that I am having now, in comparison.

I quit using ebay long ago. Since they changed the feedback system and now that they own (afaik) paypal it isn't worth the trouble.

E-mail him for a price. He can't advertise lower prices without getting in trouble with distributors. You also get the full warranty when you buy form him. I don't know about sram but campy was denying warranties on parts in the usa sold through uk dealers.

I had an issue with Abaxxo or whatever the spelling is because they wanted to charge $80 for shipping to Canada for a small box of parts.

Other than that, I've had positive experiences with 2bcycle-com, highmtnsports, bike-bazar (France), bikegearwarehouse, mainstreamcycle and curbhoppers.
