Bixi points out that there's a snafu in the Groupon plug. A year's membership gets you unlimited 30 minute rides, not unlimited 24 hours of riding.
Me: I like the Bixis for lunchtime errands or even riding over to a subway stop where I am more likely to get a seat on the train on the way home. I didn't get the discount though.

Regarding Bixi, has anyone ever come across a situation where the rack was full when returning a bike? What do you do in this case?
I think you're supposed to go to the next closest station in that case.
Ah. In Ottawa that would suck because there's only something like 10 stations in the city. It would be quite the walk back to your original destination. I was just curious in case I know anyone coming to town to visit.
The full racks are a problem. I've picked up a bike to run a lunchtime errand, and the rack near where I wanted to go was full. I ended up riding all the way back to the office instead.
I suppose it was a bit of exercise in the middle of the day.

I think if the rack is full you can punch something in and they will give you an extra half hour free to get to the next rack. Still a pain in the ass though. Last fall a friend & I decided to ride BIXI's to a pub, but the closest 2 stations were full and we still ended up walking about 15minutes.
