    Minneapolis during the Holidays?

Hi, I was once from Mpls and I'm visiting again for a couple of weeks during the holidays -- is it worth packing-up my Bike Friday for the trip? I ride all year here in the Bay Area but we don't get snow and ice, even when the temperatures drop into the 30's. Is there a good chance for any roads or paths that are kept fairly ice-free during the Minneapolis winter months, these days? Recommendations would be much appreciated, thanks!

And yes I did see this: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/bicy...ter-biking.asp

Maybe a rental or a Craigslist beater would be better, hmm. Can you get rental bikes in the winter?

I am from 150 miles north of there and the only way to ride that time of year in Duluth is with studded tires on an old ratty bike and a strong case of HTFU.

thanks! Actually the last time I went to Duluth our mode of transport was dog sled -- seriously. So at least we have #3 covered.... :-) Will see what can be done about 1 and 2

Depends on the snow - they usually keep the Greenway and paths in Minneapolis nicely plowed and the LRT (limestone) trails groomed enough that you can ride a MTB. I'm not sure about rentals. If you're good people, someone may lend you a ride (try posting up on mplsbikelove).

Just checked the traffic cameras before departing for Mpls -- hardly a fleck of snow anywhere in sight! Zowie.
