I want a new bike. Well, not really a new one, an old steel one, all double-butted with curvaceous lugs holding the frame together. Something special and different enough from the bikes I have now that it wouldn't duplicate anything, a nice road bike that looks pretty. 59cm would fit me. No garish paint please, just one or two rich colors, and chromed fork tips and rear dropouts if that's possible. If it weighs less than 25lbs, that would great - I've been told less is more.
You don't even have to include all the parts. And I can assemble it as a winter project. In fact, it would keep me out of trouble through the winter, and as you know, I get in trouble pretty easily so I could use some help in that regard. I almost don't care what kind of parts it has as long as they work and the gearing is low enough that I can climb Cadillac Mt.
I'm willing to help cover your costs as long as I don't have to pay those ridiculous eBay or CL prices. I even have a few parts already, though the French pieces probably won't fit. I could buy a new bike but that wouldn't be the same as a new old one and it would mean putting off retirement which I'm starting to look forward to.
Next, please bring me some free time so I can work on my bikes and ride them more. A few new roads would be good too, but I realize that's probably not your department. Our roads are okay anyway. I just need more time. And make it stop raining and snowing.
Please make everyone I know enjoy riding as much as I do. They need new bikes, I think. That might help.
While you're at it, could you please bring us all world peace and sustainable resources and a stable population and reliable food supply for all? I know that's asking a lot and you've probably been working on it for a long time. So if my new old bike will get in the way of you finishing that stuff then don't bother with the bike. Give everyone else a bike first and just bring me more time to ride the bikes I have now.
Jim, and I'll try to be a good boy
