RE: Anmar Gap - from Anmar Trailhead up to 172 NE in Arlington.
Have they finished building the new section of trail from the Anmar Trailhead up to 172nd that will close the Anmar Gap?
That will mean you can ride from Snohomish to Bryant with very few street crossings and avoid that nasty bit of 2 lane, no shoulder, deep ditches with thorns road from Anmar to 172nd.
In which case, we can update the TrailLink map.
How about the trail beyond Bryant? Does it go to the Pilchuck River yet?

Yes the gap is closed. The section past Bryant is not open yet. They were trying to get it open in December, but are now saying spring 2012.

They opened the new segment of trail, just about four or five weeks ago. I have not ridden it yet.

Wonder what they are doing beyond Bryant. Trouble with the CoE for the bridge permit? You would think they could pave to the river and put a wayside in there.

The new trail closing the Anmar Gap is a nice change from riding on the highway. The new trail section takes you to the intersection of 67th Ave NE and 172nd St. NE. Once you go through that intersection, you are back on the old trail that parallels 67th Ave NE and crosses a lot of driveways. But the situation is 100% better than it was.
We also rode the new section of the trail north of Arlington the crosses over the Stillaguamish and is currently complete to the bridge at Pilchuck Creek where the trail is closed. The bridge looks to be mostly complete, and the signs still say opening in spring 2012. The new section is well done and a nice ride. When the full trail opens in the spring, you'll get almost 30 miles one-way from Snohomish up to the Skagit County line. Pretty sweet.
It was really a nice afternoon for a ride, and except for a few dog-walkers and joggers, we had the trail to ourselves.

Now for a decent trailhead in downtown Arlington. It would be nice to see restrooms and water at the old station site next to city hall there. They should be thinking of bike tourism. The little towns along the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes do rather well supporting the riders that vacation there.
While you don't tend to think of the Seattle metroplex or Thurston, Pierce, King and Snohomish Counties as a bike destination, there are a lot of good trails on the menu there. One could spend a week or more riding just the very best and have lots more to do.

Yes it is paved all the way to the bridge over Pilchuck Creek. The bridge over the creek looks mostly complete, but the bridge is fenced off so you have to turn around at that point. The mile or so of trail leading up to the bridge is signed closed, but it's not blocked off and the signs did not stop us or several others from using that trail section. I could not see any reason for that section to be signed as closed.
It looks like they are building a restroom in the little park with the pagoda in downtown Arlington.
