me and the Rum Runner on the town:
do any of you know what crown race size this fork takes?
im asking here because its a soma fork and for some reason i thought there was a questions/answers thread but i cant find it.
thank you sir
Normally I wouldn't show an NDS photo of my bike, but in this case it's needed to properly show the changes I've made. I just received a new Wabi wheelset, and the neat thing with the new design is that they use road hubs front and rear, such that you can either bolt them on using the supplied bolts or you can use quick release skewers. The only caveat is that you need to use an old school internal cam QR in the rear to get sufficient clamping force to keep the wheel from slipping in the track dropouts. I used an old Dura Ace QR meant for road bikes with 126mm rear OLD that is the perfect length for the very thick Rush dropouts and provides plenty of clamping force. I used an even older Campy Nuovo Tipo QR from the 1970s in the front, although any QR would have been fine since very little clamping force is required. The advantage of QRs is that you don't need to carry a 15mm wrench to remove the wheels in the event of a flat tire.
^^^ Do those wheels have shorter axles so the QR works? If so, what kind of nuts come with them? Did you ever have Wabi's old wheelset, and if you did, how do you like their new rims compared to the Jalcos?
^last day to buy them on sale.
hey guys, been creeping on the forum for months but this is my first post. i'm in the process of putting together my frame-up build (pearl white soma rush) had a question about chain adjusters/ tensioners. i'm on a 1/8" kmc chain.. are there any out there that are compatible with the my frame? if so what are you guys running/recommend..thanks a bunch.
I'm thinking about building a Rum Runner but torn on sizing between 53 and 55. Any of you that own one have any input?
I'm 5'10", cycling inseem is 32.5, and I have a bike with a 543mm effective top tube that fits great. Looking at the geo chart it seems like the 55 would be too big but the 53 might be just a little too small for me.
i want to post my rum runner but its not finished... i havent decided on silver shimano 600 with black chainring or diff crankset all black.
after 8 long months of research and bartering and ebaying and universalcycles.com my Soma is complete...well except for the chain.hahaa.
bought a bare frame and built up from there..what do u guys think?
