    K.O.M. Training Rides

So I just noticed that the registeration for "Mulhallond Challenge" and "Heartbreak Onehundred" are open and "Breathless Agony" opens on 01/09/11 at 8:00am. (I heard they fill up fast but it didnt happen last year. After riding Breathless last year I plan on riding all three this year. I want that jersey! I am signed up already.

Last year there were a few of us that met up a few times and did some training rides. I would like to have something like that again this year. All rider levels are welcome as we climb at our own pace and then regroup at the top, the idea is we all get better by the time the ride rolls around. Last year we all improved quite a bit. Is anyone intrested in joining in? We can use this thread and progress and meeting points.

Originally all 3 of those were on my list for this year, but 2 weekends ago I ended up on GMR doing a ride similar to them now I can't convince myself to pay for the events anymore. I am however in for a mountain climbing ride.

I like GMR->Crystal lake (70mi/8000ft) or 2xGMR->Village (88mi/10,000ft with good water access), but I'd be up for other routes if they're safe. I'm guessing crystal lake is less comfortable over the winter and is more likely to be icy....GMR->village stays pretty low in elevation.

OK keep a look out then.
I did up Baldy and down and then up GMR and down Baldy as one ride and then up Baldy and down GMR and back up GMR and down Baldy as my last two training rides before breathless. We did Crystal Lake the week after it opened this year as well nice ride, cold and misty the whole way until the store which had a little bit of sunlight. We road half of Breathless last year and hope to do the same for the Malibu ride.

I have no intention whatsoever to do the KOM but I'll be happy to do some hilly training rides with you guys. Of course the weather must be up to my high standards.
Let me tell you a secret - I think MrBeanz is a Palomar virgin. Let's help him to get laid..., err I mean, organize a ride there and drag him along. We can start from Harrah's casino and do both South and East grade. About 50 miles with 7000' of climbing (all the climbing is in the first 37 miles). That will whip you in shape for the KOM. Then we can go to the casino for some greasy burger and beer.
And of course, I'm up for a ride to Crystal Lake and GMR.
Old people are keen to give good advice because of their inability to give bad example.

I'm interested in some training rides. I rode Breathless and Heartbreak in the spring and plan on doing all 3 in 2012. I've been riding in the Santa Monicas for the past month or so just to get to know some of the parts I haven't ridden before.

I will be doing a training ride from last year this Thursday morning. Starting in Yucaipa and climbing Wildwood canyon, descending Oak Glen and then ascending Oak Glen to the top and then down over to hwy 38 and climb to Forest Falls and then back to Yucaipa. Extra credit is down to Redlands and the up to Crafton Hills and back up Oak Glen to Yucaipa. PM me for details if you are intrested.

P.S. the Palomar ride was awesome clear beautiful and a little snowy at the top. Very pictureesque road.

Great looking ride, I think I might do that in two weeks but add up to Icehouse Canyon. Next weekend looks to be a bust if weather holds true (lol).

Hey Lesper4, Ron Ng has posted some videos of this ride on his blog: http://spingineer.blogspot.com/2012/....html?spref=fb

It was a tad chilly (as you can tell from my Garmin temps), but not really cold. Check out the sky in the vids! We were only rained on for about 30 seconds and not a hard rain at that.

I signed up for Breathless Agony and I think I'm riding well enough to sign up for Mulholland too. Then it kind of follows that I sign up for Heartbreak even though it's my least favorite of the 3. On the other hand, I already have the KOM jersey and socks, so maybe not.

Just curious... which one of three is the hardest typically? (I understand it could be different for different people... but... generally speaking..)
