I intend to make training ride there monthly as it progressively gets longer.
Anyone from the area doing the same.. and can hookup with non-local to ride the routes.

I've signed up for the ride in May. However, I live about 1/2 way between Allentown (PA) and Philly, so the training rides aren't too convenient for me. However, I may try to make some as my fitness improves. At this point in the year, I'm better off spending the time riding from home and using the extra time riding rather than driving!
The rider in my avatar is David Etxebarria, not me.
HigherGround, I'm from your neck of the woods. Grew up in Zionsville, close to East Greenville. One of those places you have to zoom allll the way in on google maps to see :-)
I'm signing up for the Gran Fondo NYC today (if there are still spots), but I doubt I'll make any of the training rides as I'm now down in DC. Maybe all the BFers can get together for the ride. I'm not yet sure how I'll be getting there or where I'll be staying, but I do hope to have a killer meal at someplace nice in NYC the evening after the ride.
I live on Long Island so will try to make a few of the training rides
HigherGround, I remember you from all the posts about the LiveStrong Philly rides
I signed up a few weeks ago for the GFNYC. Now I'm starting to look into accommodations and it is looking a little pricey. Anyone looking for a room-mate to split a hotel? Velomestic, you're from DC...how are you getting up there? I'm thinking train might be the best option...I think it is pretty easy to take a bike. I have a bike with BTCs I hope will be ready by May 20.
The ride is on a Sunday, but riders must check-in on Saturday at 8pm at the latest. There will be no Sunday AM check-in!! So this means at a minimum a Saturday night hotel stay will be necessary. I'm not sure how zapped I will be Sunday afternoon to make the trip back to DC; it also depends if I drive or take the train. I had also looked forward to just relaxing in NYC for a night after the ride and getting a good meal, but we'll have to see.
