TOMRV 2012 (or other weekend rides)

The Tour of the Mississippi River Valley this year is June 9-10. I've been thinking about doing this ride for several years now - probably not brave enough to do the virtual back to back centuries. Anyone else done this ride? It does seem like it is plagued by bad weather on a regular basis.

I am alternatively looking at doing some other midwest (IL/MN/WI/IA) two-day tours but can't seem to find any. Anyone know of any?

Shuttleguy has run a weekend tour along the Mississippi River past few years. Nothing up yet for this year, maybe get on their emailing list. http://www.shuttleguy.com/events.asp
There are no thrills if there are no hills!

I'm on their email list (I would recommend it). I've had scheduling conflicts making me unable to the do the Miss. River ride the last two years, but it looks like this year they are not offering it. I've done their tri-state ride a few times. That would be just the type of ride I am looking for.

Here is their tour website: www.shuttleguytours.com

This was my first century and I did the back to back rides after four weeks of cycling. The first day or 106 miles is a nice long day with decent scenery and some great hills. The second day's ride is awesome for the first 40 miles, winding roads through heavily wooded areas with lots of up and downhill riding after that it is flat and boring typical midwest flatlands. If I ever do the ride again I'll do the first full day and just the first 40 miles.

I did the long TOMRV route a few years ago. It would have been fun, but my knee was flaring up and it rained/stormed both days.

The tall hills were nice in the fog, which almost made it feel like climbing mountains, since I could only see about 20ft in front of me. That was kind of a cool start to the second day.

Galena was a gorgeous area to ride. The area around the Quad Cities was just mediocre, at best.
Seeking old Fuji posters, jerseys, pumps, and water bottles. I also need Fuji catalog # 6(1976) and 15(1985) to finish my collection.
