Thinning out ht eseat pad?

I've been thinking I might want to thin out the seat pad on my RANS standard seat. The darned thing is not lightweight, but it is comfy. I have considered having about an inch cut off the thickness of it (from the bottom) with a bandsaw. That should lighten it considerably but still leave enough pad for comfort. Has anyone else out ther done something similar?

I understand RANS does/did sell a thin/light seat pad, but I cannot seem to find it on their parts pages. I just wonder how much less that one weighs, and how thick it is?

The one-piece lightweight pad is considerably lighter, by as much as a pound. It's here:

I've had one of those on my V-Rex for a couple of years. The thin padding seems to have compressed a bit over time - I supplemented with a one inch Nu Foam pad (available at your local Jo-Ann fabric and craft store). Recently converted the Screamer (Captain) to the thin integrated RANS pad with 2" of Nu Foam under it. Rode that 20 miles last Sunday and it felt very nice.
Curious to hear if a bandsaw or other tool can be used to trim down the stock foam.

If there is a foam shop anywhere near you take it to them. They will slice out what you want and glue it back together. It won't cost much. bk
