I need a new LBS in Albuquerque!

Hey friends. So, I used to get all my wrenching done at Broken Spoke over off of Alameda and Corrales, but apparently Rob has closed his doors for good and even gone so far as to shut down the email address he had told me would continue to work were those aforementioned doors ever to close. Sooo, I'm looking for a new shop, preferably one with service prices that fit in the range of a student. I've been to the shop on campus before, but they have a pretty big backlog and I'm not really willing to let a student do this kind of work on my bike (the derailleur hanger needs a straightening.)

I've heard good things about Cycle Cave and Kickstand...are there any others I should know about? We've got a lot of shops here in Burque, but Broken Spoke was the first one I walked into that gave me that groovy LBS-love vibe that gets a shop my repeat business, and now I just feel kind of lost...

I'd recommend Cycle Cave overall, but the downtown bike shop - Gold Ave Bicycles - has always had really reasonable prices and friendly staff. A lot of bike shops employ younger folks as mechanics - especially places like Two Wheel Drive, Gold Ave, Bike Coop, etc. Many of them know what they are doing - I think it depends on the shop rather than the age of the employees.

Bike Coop has moved from Nob Hill to Yale just south of Central. Two-Wheel Drive, Kickstand, Cycle Cave. All are excellent.

Cycle cave all the way. I spent last summer there and rode with their saturday rides. The owners were always really kind and pleasant. Bought a bike from them and they even swapped out the stem for no charge because I didn't like it. Went to performance cycles and did not like it one bit.

I'm sure you found a new shop by now, but I wanted to nominate Gold Ave Bikes as a worthy shop. Always have good luck with them when I'm riding in the area.
