    9. A, but it's more complex than that. Bike lanes are great, but the city does not enforce them. They are full of runners, vendors, walkers, parking enforcement officers, NYPD vehicles, cabs, garbage, etc.
    10. D - Cyclists do not need to be informed about bicycle safety, because they bear almost all the risk from not biking in a safe manner. Drivers, particularly cabs, need to be educated about cyclists' rights and unsafe driving must be enforced.

no problem. I was heavily involved with the whole "crackdown" thing that happened earlier this year, and I went to community board meetings and police town hall meetings where issues of pedestrian safety were discussed. If you want to talk about it more, just send me a PM and i'll give you more info.

I live in Nassau County, only a few miles outside of NYC. And I started my own Bicycle club, the Glen Cove Bicycle Club.

But I can ride into Queens anytime, so I/m going to answer the survey anyway:

    1. b
    2. f
    3. f
    4. a
    5. a
    6. c
    7. 4
    8. b
    9. a
    10.b

I don't like the "dismount and walk your bike" nonsense. Hey, I can ride 5MPH if the speed limit is 5MPH. But such absurdly low speed limits for bicycles , when taxicabs exceed 55 everyday. Enforce the speed limits for cars.
    Check List:
    1. headlight and tail-light, 2. rearview mirror, 3. reflective vest, 4. Brakes! make sure the brakes work on the bicycle! , 5. a horn and bell. , 6. Stop, look, and listen, when coming to an intersection. LOOk both ways before crossing the street. , 7. Right Size? is the bicycle the right size for the rider? , 8. Wear a helmet.
