LTC class A how do you carry while on your bike

Just wondering for those that carry a hand gun most do the time, what is your preferred method to carry while riding in your commuter kit?I hate gun questions on BF but this is the best place for this specific question. Before it gets out of hand my reason is personal & not a question of approval or ethics. I am considering a fanny pack while on my bike till I get to work and change but I'm not sure how comfortable I am with putting my gun and a separate garment.
    Thank you

Your fanny pack idea is right on the spot, sir. I can't think of a better way to do it and carry a decent caliber handgun. Sometimes I'll throw my North American Arms mini .22 revolver in my jersey pocket, but that's not really a handgun I want to depend on.

When I was working, I'd get to work before everyone else and just stash the fanny pack in my locker. Every CCW fanny pack I've found has been tactical black Cordura, so I went ahead and put band and bike company stickers all over it for camouflage, as not to clue people into me carrying a handgun. It's not unreasonable for someone on a bike to wear a fanny pack. As far as people were concerned, all I was carrying in there were my keys and wallet(and I was). As for work? I took my fanny pack off and put it in my locker. Nobody knew there was a gun in there.

According to my calculations, 10 pages.

Bets anyone? Get your bets in now. All bets are off once we flip over to the second page.

I had seen someone here at BF modify a frame pannier so it could hold a gun.

    @digger: I'd say about 5 pages!

I'm gonna say 3 pages and can even help to make it so. What's the prize for the winner?

Wouldn't it be better to just hold your gun in one hand while you ride? I mean, if I'm gonna push you off your bike, I'm making sure you don't have enough time to pull any silly gun on me!

    Edit: Pass the popcorn please!

    3 pages!

    5 pages!

Guys, dudes, gentlemen, I implore you! 10 pages is a conservative estimate.

The person who guesses correctly wins a framed and autographed picture of me.

I read somewhere they are coming out with CF handguns that fire CF bullets specifically for bike commuters. It comes with a special bar mount for easy access. I'll post the link when I find it.

    I'll say 7 pages.

Taking the question seriously, I have thought about this, and I think that I would have to carry it on me - in a fanny pack or a holster of some kind. SOB holster?

The problem with keeping it in a pannier/bag on a bike is that if I am injured and separated from the bike - say in an ambulance ride - it won't be obvious to whoever takes custody of the bike that they are also taking custody of a handgun.

If the handgun is on me, then the folks transporting me will know that I have a handgun. I assume that they have some protocol for that - particularly in states that allow CCW.

BTW, I have mainly considered this for rides to the shooting range.

A good belt and holster is probably the best route, unless you wear cycling clothes.
Personally I'd rather not carry off person since it's not quick to get to when you need it.

That being said I carry a Cz-75b in a Bladetech paddle holster, Although it is rather heavy for bicycling.

Carrying while on a bicycle is different than carrying while just walking around. I can't imagine trying to ride in my concealment holster. The rubbing and chafing would be unbearable.

On body carry is a much better idea than carrying on the bike, because if you get separated from the bike you have no gun. Plus, the fanny pack(worn in front) gives quick access to the gun, is fairly comfortable, and doesn't look like you're carrying a gun. Wearing a fanny pack while dressed in normal clothes IS a red flag----"LOOK AT THE GUY WITH THE GUN". Same as the hideous photographer's vests some guys use as a concealment garment. Whenever I see someone wearing either of those, unless they're a foreign tourist(they do love fanny packs), I assume someone is concealing a firearm.

But on a bicycle? It just looks like you're carrying your personal stuff.

Elk season they use the cross the handlebars mounts,
    Bow hunter's season comes first.

BoB trailers work well to haul out field dressed quarter sections.

Glad I dont live where people think they all need to be packing heat.

    What about something like this:

BTW, I hope you all take my wisecrack about the pages as non-sarcastic humor... that's what it was mean to be and not offend the OP.

I've never really thought about this question before, though I have some (limited) experience carrying a concealed handgun.

I was really hoping that Bianchi made something suitable, purely for the brand-name associative advantage, but alas the best I came up with was This which I don't think is suitable unless you have a garment with a properly situated pocket, which also allows you good riding position.

I don't know that any of these options are really practical, but all of these would be things I'd try, if I were in the situation that required me to carry on a bicycle.

Depending on what you plan to carry but presuming something compact, how about something like this? I don't think it would provide optimal concealment, but at least for winter, under the right kind of shirt or a larger cycling jacket, it might be okay. I have no experience with the garment or the manufacturer, so I cannot say whether it really stands up to the weight of a loaded firearm.

Another possibility, depending on your ride is this I think it might work okay for a 'dutch bike' or most hybrids with upright riding posture. I don't think it would work too well on a road bike, or aggressive MTB.

One last possibility is something like This or This, which are designed for a camera, but (I think) could almost certainly be modified to hold a firearm with little or no difficulty. It might not scream "Gun" if it has a camera logo, esp. if you do anything to make people say "Photographer!" like having cameras mounted on your helmet or bike?

I was leaning toward a fanny pack myself & just wanted to get an idea what people are using. Thank you everyone for your ideas and seance of humor. I am not real concerned about protection while riding into work but I prefer to carry most of the time. We all have reasons why we do what we do

Handlebar bag that I take with me when I lock the bike.

I now live in a state with no provision for self defense, so no carry for me. I used to carry my Keltec P11 or my Glock 23.
I truly miss my Texas CHL on times when I ride through shady neighborhoods, though.

I have a SmartCarry that I use. It's a deep concealment holster where the gun rides in front of your junk, so to speak. Everybody freaks when you mention carrying a gun that way, but it's perfectly safe. When I'm on the bike I will swing the holster to the side where it rides on the hip. When I get to work I change to a Mika pocket holster. I carry a S&W 642. Works fine for me. YMMV.

Brave to mention handguns in BF...

I brought up pretty much the same question a year or so back, but in the Touring Forum, and got flamed. Man, you'd have thought I was the Antichrist.

Fanny pack makes sense, though. Or if you sport a rack on your bike, you can get a trunk bag.

Well that NAA is better than nothing and if your up against a thinking perp (not likely most are headed to the de-evolutionary end of the scale) he's going to have to think twice about getting a couple holes in the meatsuit. At the worst you can throw it at him..
