Boston Bike Lecture Ideas?

Hi all!

I'm planning a day of the art of cycling culture to happen this fall at one of the art museums. I'm thinking a panel discussion and then maybe a smaller event featuring apparel or some cool frames.

Those are just my preliminary thoughts. My biggest question is what do you want to see that would make you come to a museum for a day and talk about/listen to our bikes and culture and why it looks so good? Best lycra contest? Hand-built frames on view?

Suggestions or comments would be great!

What got you thinking about this? The reason I ask is that "cycling culture" is actually a number of overlapping but distinctively different groups: bike messengers (& wannabes, groupies, other urban fixie lovers), BMXers, racers (road, track & cyclo-cross), tri-athletes, bike tourers, classic & vintage aficionados, club riders, bike commuters, to name the main ones. What attracts one group often repels another. The image of cycling culture you had when this idea first occurred to you is probably what should determine who you try to attract & who you use for resources.

Boston Bike Lecture Ideas?

The Southwest Corridor bikepath is named the Pierre Lallement Bike Path, in honor of the putative inventor of the bicycle, who died in Boston (in obscurity) in 1891. FYI
