Anymore too many "comics" are getting into the political arena, and should be on the editorial page. Running over people is NOT funny.

I kinda liked that strip before, since he's local to Santa Rosa. But now I think Pasties is a jerk. The "try to run them over" part is going too far.

Personally, the comic strip is just expressing on what many motorists already think of, or secretly would like to do to cyclists, and is definitely not a call to arms to a mass slaughter of cyclists in any part of the sense.

The evening news could generate far more hostility than that comic ever could, and usually just a few weeks or days before a hotly debated election is about to take place is when I can really feel a considerable uptick in motorists' hostility.

I've been reading "Pearls Before Swine" a few years now. Pastis doesn't have an agenda against cyclists, I don't believe. Remember his wicked parodies of everything else, including other strips such as "Family Circle" and "Peanuts". And he was friends with, and idolized, both Bil Keane and Charles Shulz, the originators of those icons. And he mocks himself in his strip frequently. If you still feel Pastis has an anti-cyclist agenda, you can write him about it on his blog. http://stephanpastis.wordpress.com/ But be careful -- you might find yourself the object of parody and scorn in his next strip.

Anyway, I think he's one of the funniest daily comic strip writers in the world today.

I think the comic is funny, except for the 'that's why I try to run them over' bit. I know it's supposed to be just a joke and all that, but it hits a little too close to home for me.

Making fun of people is okay, making light of murdering people...I dunno. Less so.

But cyclists eat ANYTHING! We never gain weight because of the cadence we keep up. This comic strip is a non sequitur
    Check List:
    1. headlight and tail-light, 2. rearview mirror, 3. reflective vest, 4. Brakes! make sure the brakes work on the bicycle! , 5. a horn and bell. , 6. Stop, look, and listen, when coming to an intersection. LOOk both ways before crossing the street. , 7. Right Size? is the bicycle the right size for the rider? , 8. Wear a helmet.

If you think the comment in that comic strip is horrifying, there was an Englishman years ago who wrote that the solution to the Irish famine was for Irish children to be eaten. You might want to write an angry letter about that, while you're enjoying getting agitated.

My name is Jeff and there are 2 other Jeff's in one of the groups I ride in. We thought it was funny. It's just a silly comic.

Swift was born in Ireland, of an Irish mother and an English father.

Don't mean to double post, but there's another relevant comic for today's Pearls Before Swine:

People always come up with some excuse when they say something stupid. "It's just a joke" is a common one.

I really don't like people that take every little joke serious, but in this current climate things like this are really reprehensible.

Well I have to wonder one thing... since cyclists are being featured in at least two comic strips in the daily paper... have we become mainstream?

Thanks, whoever first posted the reference to Frazz. I had never read it. I like it. He's drawn like Calvin grown up.

    My favorite biking comic:
