Hello BikeForums members, my name is Navi, a San Jose State college student living in SF bay area (union City) and I really want to get into road bikes. It has been something I wanted to do to get into shape and have some fun. I have been looking about Craigslist for a road bike but it seems hard to find the right one or one that isnt already sold. I am 6'4" tall so I know the typical frame size I could fit would be 60cm to 63cm. I have seen many vintage bikes on craigslist but I am not too sure if I want to go with a older bike.
I finally came upon this bike (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/2799629387.html) but I am not sure if it would be a good deal or not. The seller seems to be a older retired couple having no need for the bike, and after some research seems like a 1998ish bike. The seller is asking $500 but is it worth that price?
I was originally going to buy a specialized bike from Bicycle Garage in Fremont but it would come out to be around $1,000 for a good one but they did not approve of a payment plan for me, T_T.
I will try out the marketplace as well to see if there are any locals that are selling their road bikes, thanks for all of your input
