The Italians are coming! The Italians are coming! She's a beauty, DeeGee. Especially those killer red brake hoods. So, you ended up with a high zoot carbon, a cool compact that will easily (that's the bike, maybe not you in the beginning lol)climb the steeps, a "white bike", a comfortable tallish headtube, a smooth & stable wheelbase that wants to go fast downhill (yeehaw!), a good deal, and a friendly shop.

It's the waiting that will be hard. Like when you were pacing the obstetrics ward waiting room years ago. Anyway, all your searching and deliberation paid off....Congrats on the new bike and on being back in the old guy gruppetto!

SWEET!! There's a Masi Randoure (sp?) touring bike at my LBS, believe it's a leftover 2009 or 2010, IF I ever get any real spare cash one day, it will be mine, do I NEED it, nope but the desire is there! Have FUN and ENJOY that new ride!

The photo is accurate, the hoods are red. I'm thinking about changing the tape to red as well. The red tape they had in the shop wasn't exactly the same shade of red, but it's pretty close. I was thinking that the red tape would start to look soiled quickly as will the white, but I may do red anyway. And I've picked out nice red/white bottle cages which will add a perfect red accent as well.

Now that I have the bike on order, I can begin pulling together color matching kit, as well. (Just kidding!)

In the last charity ride I did, out of a few thousand bikes that entered, I don't think that I saw more than 3 or 4 Colnagos. When I do these rides, I have this dumb habit of checking out as many bikes as I can, as I pass them and/or they pass me.

However, I'm curious as to why you want to change the tape to black, if the photo is accurate about the hoods being red? Although I didn't notice any red anywheres else on the bike, wouldn't red tape look a little better with the red hoods? I too am changing the white tape that came on my bike, but I'm changing it to red since there are red accent lines and red brake faces on my white bike.

We definitely need some pics and a ride report when you get that bike on the road.

I do that sometimes. I call my grocery bike The Globe, but sometimes I call her The Damn Globe, as well. She's a fine bike for what she is; but she's a tank. In fact, the fact that I have The Globe was probably the reason I abandoned my brief flirtation with the Long Haul Trucker. Until and unless I'm really going to do some touring, I figured I should buy the best bike I could find for my current needs, which is riding 4-5 times a week for pleasure.

The nice thing about handlebar tape is it's a quick and cost effective way of updating your bike. When the day comes that you decide you don't like it anymore, you can change it.

Incidentally, back when I rode a bike that had white handlebar tape, I cleaned it with some waterless hand cleaner (Go-Jo) that didn't have any pumice in it. I'd just slather it on and hose it off. Took about as long as it did for me to type this paragraph.

u know when i c a bike DG as beautiful & "put together" as that masi of yours i got to think that it must bring an end to the whole "N + 1" continuum thing. barring of course having to replace it due to some sort of unforseen catastrophe (c that horrific thread about the bike that was not tied down to the bike carrier properly before driving off if u can bear reading it) doesn't the sight & feel of that baby just satisfy u down to ur core? what more can we want in life...or cycling, i guess.

Well done Gary. I looked at the Masi Evo hard. You will love it I am sure. Be sure to post pics and a christening ride report or risk a shunning for failure to do so.

I thought better of it, and deleted it. But it was too late, as it was already quoted. My apologies to all. However, I really don't like the teenage "c" "ur" no capitalization, etc., writing. That is just my opinion, FWIW.

I actually agree with you. That said, too many years with teenage daughters taught me that it's not going to change in that generation.

Which brought me to type your quoted "50+ Forum" comment. We have had this forum discussion before, and, as I recall, the general opinion was at 50+ it is time to write in a 50+ manner.

That's a beautiful bike. Will the hoods still be red with the black bar tape?
