Here's a bit of useless information....I posted this very same thread on a Ducati Forum. Here lot's of people responded to the lifespan calculator but not Dr. Evans video. I'm guessing the video is sort of preaching to the choir here. On the Ducati site almost no one replied to any of it. I think there were maybe 5 posts.

Took a small penalty for being an ex smoker... looks like I might make it to 95.

Mom is 82 and her health is declining slowly (lifelong smoker), my father died of complications from alcohol abuse and smoking at 59.

My grandparents lived more wholesome lives and lived to 86, 90, and 100 with all of my great uncles and aunts on my mom's side living beyond 105. My maternal grandmother died from what is now a preventable condition but back in the late 30's this was not the case.

Seems like if I do not abuse myself that I might outlive my parrots who don't smoke, get lots of exercise, and eat a healthy vegetarian diet.

Georgia state law stating that bicyclists “May Use Full Lane” when lane widths are not wide enough for motorists to safely pass cyclists and stay completely within the travel lane. (now all I have to do is convince GA drivers to read the law).

I am going to email the lifespan calculator link to my Congressman. Maybe he will run the numbers and realize they better stop robbing the Social Security funds!

The calculator predicted 97 years for me. This is exactly how long my maternal grandfather lived. I hope I can enjoy the same good health he did--he was as sharp as a tack (mentally) almost until the day he died. I know I am exercising more and eating healthier than he did.

The quiz is silly. They didn't give me enough of a penalty for both my parents dying early of heart attacks, mother at 39 and father at 63, with dad having his first heart attack at 43. They should ask how long your parents and grandparents lived. Genes are the most accurate predictor of longevity. They should ask if you have diabetes. They should ask if you have any other disease like cancer or prior heart attack. I get big numbers because I am not overweight, wear a seat belt, I exercise a lot, my HPB is under control and I eat my fruits and vegetables. You could be dying and get a score of 90 on this quiz. I get a high score but no life insurance company would ever touch me.

    So there.

The calculator is a good way of pointing out the benefits of healthy choices, but it does not take enough factors into consideration to be a real tool for predicting life expectancy. imho, of course.

Yes, it is a simple calculator and only addresses common health related choices you can make and control.

Same thoughts here. My father's family is rampant with heart disease, my grandfather died at 51, my grandmother at 62, his brother had his first at 41. My uncle, and aunt on my dad's side actually died from complications due to Alzhiemers Disease and nothing was there about the genetics of this awful disease. On my mom's side cancer is the killer there, although it seems this is pretty much environmental in its causation, my mom had had colon cancer twice and kidney cancer once. Her brother died of Prostate caner and her sister died from ovarian cancer.

The neighborhood I grew up in was a landfill for the U.S. Navy in WWII that my father had taken drilling fluids, used oil and other heavy metal contaminated fluids to as an enlisted sailor in 1945. I quit counting the parents of my friends and school mates that have had or died from cancer and heart disease is prevalent among all of us. Too much environmental and genetic possibiltites to take much stock in for me.

    95 for me.
That's reasonable, for my family. Males in my family that make it past 60 usually make it to their 90s. My great-grandfather made 103 and my grandmothers both hit their mid 90s.
