    Hello from Houma, LA

I must confess that I am a runner, or at least a former runner. Unfortunately I pick up a dumbbell at the gym wrong and now have a bulging lumbar disc with sciatic pain. So...I have decided to stop running. I bought a Cannondale Synapse 5 Thursday and have ridden twice (my butt is sore!). At any rate, I am new to the sport but am very excited about a new start!

    Hi Quark13,

Sorry to hear about your injury.

    Why are dumbbells called dumbbells?

    Very nice bike.

Hey! Welcome to BikeForums... if you want to ride with groups, there's a big cycling club in Houma (I ride with them a few times a month). www.bccbike.org

I have a touring bike, but there's plenty of guys (and girls) who have carbon race bikes, and some who just have nice road bikes and like to put in miles. We're not picky, we'll let anybody ride with us.

Have you stopped in to see Rod at BG Bikes yet? Don't be afraid to ask questions, and I'd love to meet you at a group ride! Almost every Saturday at 7:00, they start at the Houma Archdioces office at the corner of 311 and Bullrun... park behind the Dioces office.

Hope to see you out on the road soon!
