... in the Masters 100+ category that is.
Traduction from "Le Figaro" today:
<100 year old french Robert Marchand established today the first hour record in his age category. The event took place at the UCI Velodrome in Aigle, Switzerland. Marchand covered 24.25 km (15.16 miles).
"I could have gone faster but chose not to" declared the hero of the day barely out of breath at the finish. "I could have gone one more kilometer" affirmed the 1.51 m, 51 kg man (5' tall, 112.5 lbs).
The new record will be made official by UCI.
Born on November 26 1911, the current cyclo-tourist doyen only started taking cycling seriously at... age 78.>
