Hello from San Jose, California!

I'm a recent transplant from Arkansas, and I'm actually starting to miss the hills. I will admit I bike more now that they're gone, though. I live downtown and commute to my part-time job. I'd love to commute to a full-time one. I just got a Surly Crosscheck to replace my Raleigh Technium (I wanted to have something more versatile) and REALLY want to get into cross. I'm not sure how to do it though, especially since I guess the season's over? I just want to ride and get messy. If you are a lady rider also, I am looking for riding buddies.

When I'm not on my bike, I'm an arts and crafts instructor, and I make lots of things on my own time (costumes, pinatas, giant vegetables, mini robots). I will eat falafel 5 days a week. I'm thinking of going back to school in the Fall, either for art or math. I know what the smart choice is, though.

Lemme know if you are an SJ'er who does cross. I'm still getting used to so many towns being crammed up next to each other, so I sometimes need prodding to go outside of SJ.

Also, I'd like to get into the super-top-secret ladies' forum, but since I haven't posted 50 TIMES I can't PM Siu Blue Wind. Halp! I don't know how long it will take to rack up 50 posts. I'm not shy, but dang.

Seriously? There's a weird beaten path from Arkansas to Cali. It's hard to meet someone who doesn't have a relative there. Is *anyone* from California?
