Narrowly avoiding injuries today on the daily commute route.

I was on my commute route today and a guy went to pass in a very bad manner.

He passed on the blind turn at almost 45-50 mph. Note the lack of skid marks or brake lights. The Tacoma was 2009 with 23k miles but the rear axle was dismounted completely and likely will be totaled. The cherokee was damaged minimally with a leaking radiator. The driver of the cherokee was tight lipped and made no attempt to talk to the victims or myself, the victim was conversational and neither the cops or victims blamed me as the cyclist. They thought the camera was the coolest thing ever. At least there were no injuries.

    WOWOW!!!!!!!! THAT is CA-RAAAY-ZEEEEEE!!!

Damn fool. Guess Mr. Jeep F'n Cherokee found out his time wasn't quite so precious, eh? Sat for a LOT longer than what he WOULD have saved had he MADE that turn.

    Hope his insurance tripled........

Wow, captured the whole thing as it happened. Wonder if Mr. Jeep F'n Cherokee will learn from this or simply cop an attitude against cyclists in the future.

Amazing that some folks just don't get the whole safe passing thing... double yellow stripe too. No doubt Mr. Jeep F'n Cherokee is telling friends and family that a cyclist "made" him change lanes...

Usually people wait til after the bridge to make a move since after the bridge it's wider, not full shoulder but wider. In most cases I will facilitate such as well. Cars in PA are allowed to double yellow pass as long as it is not a Turn/Rise/unsafe location and they allow 4 ft space. Same recent rule that says bikes don't have to yield.

At first I thought having a cam might be a frivolous experiment(since I commute among other reasons due to brokeness$$), but this made the $20 well spent. Now the "Dash cam" is on whenever I take the route. If not for someone else at least for someone to come to my aid.

    $20? What kind of camera?
I've been thinking that a camera would be a good investment as well.
