    In the Year 2525..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiD2CGkoNts

While I'm not sure if such a thread exists but I think it would be nice to ponder about the future as a whole. Before posting, think about the past centuries, where we were and where we are now to give a creative reply.

Most of these types of threads somehow turn out to be a debatable thing where one starts flaming (arguing) with one another I don't want that. There's no right or wrong answer, just post what you feel and enjoy the imagination of others.

While it would only seem right to start off this thread with my own thoughts or opinions, it's rather late here and I should probably get some sleep, I'll leave my two cents in the afternoon tomorrow.

I think by the year 2525, We will have big issue with water. With the amount of oil spills and dangerous things being dumped in the oceans in the past 60 years I think we will have to have some sort of process that purifies much deeper than what we have now.

We will probably have the capabilities of Flying cars, but comparing the amount of reckless drivers and incidents that occur today, I highly doubt we will be allowed in the sky. Maybe if we're lucky to the extent we will have electrical wings attached to us to fly.

I think overall we will be more connected with each other and educated through the internet, but there will be a global censorship put in place, requiring circumvention for free speech and privacy.

The cellphone platform in its form of Smart Phone will be surpassed by a greater being, combining easy part replacement of a PC but in small form factor. New wireless protocols will come into place for peripherals for data backup, and syncing of a monitor, etc with no latency. I think this device overall will be of a major issue with invasion of privacy on government and common criminal level.

The US Drug War will end.

I think road ways or seperate paths will be worked to accommodate the Bicycle, to commute to far locations.

In the year 2525, it will have been 520 years since the Cubs won a World Series ande 480 years since they went to one.

I hope that we will have gotten a space-based civilization going in addition to what is happening on Earth.

    On giving up:
Everyone knows that Christopher Columbus discovered the New World for Spain on his first voyage. But few people realize that on his 4th voyage, Columbus gave up, turned back and sailed for home; within 10 miles of where he could have discovered the Pacific Ocean.

See this post in Charlie Stross's blog: 2512

Climate change, info wars, synthetic biology, and more. The comments at the bottom are good, too.

Five hundred years is a nearly unimaginable gulf from today's perspective. Five centuries ago, the Portuguese conquistadores were beginning their rampage through South America; Martin Luther was finishing his doctorate in theology and thinking about sin: the huge sequence of civil wars that racked Japan for over a century were raging: the Great Powers were still the Chinese empire and the Caliphate (although the latter was undergoing a shift in center of gravity towards Istanbul and the Ottoman empire). The great powers in Europe were Spain and Venice; the English speaking world was a few million barbarians occupying a handful of damp islands on the outer fringes of Europe.

Without going into religious believes by the year 2525 (513 years from now), we will probably be the creators of new species which will perhaps prevail on humans (not necessarily enhanced humans) like humans currently prevail on monkeys. (But those new species won't necessarily act like we do with monkeys as our behavior is ruled by genes and environment not necessarily them). Without the current physical and mental limitations of humans they will be having fun traveling toward other planets or living into the deep ocean when our physical entities will have limited abilities. Hopefully, thanks to enhancements we will perhaps be able to have the same abilities or perhaps we will become those new species.

What about the hacking of bionic brains? How to evaluate 2 children when one has a bionic brain? They already are ex: cash machine, washing machine, robotic arms in factories, drones, satellites, robot-toys (aibo..), robot-vacuum, space exploration robots etc..
Even humanoid robots in events, universities, hospitals etc... ex: asimo, hrp-4, nao, enon, reem, robonaut etc..

In the year 2525 (513 years from now), let's go wild. As there is no way to know what will happen 513 years from now everything here is pure speculation. Some assertions could be theoretically impossible but if one way is impossible it doesn't mean that another way can't be found especially with so much time available:
    -cities on Mars, the Moon
-terraformation of planets of our solar system
-probably most of the mysteries of the universe solved
    -travels through galaxies
-mind to mind communication (no more cell phones and other similar gadgets)
-no more TV, computers, cars like we know
-probably that a backup of all the information about each human will be stored on the cloud, information like DNA, connectomes etc..
-no more death most of the time due to auto-regeneration of cells and existing backup of ourself, humans can live as long as they want (which means no more old looking, nor injured, nor disabled, nor sicks people)
-ability to rapidly modify our body to adapt to the environment
    -no more disease known
    -no more privacy
    -no more crime
-the world autoregulate by itself via collective intelligence
    -mind reading
-open knowledge (everybody is interconnected and have access to near infinite knowledge)
    -zero waste cities
-every process is optimized, all the traffic and activities are smooth
    -people don't work anymore
    -post capitalist system
    -no more war
    -communication with intelligent objects
-ability to create objects in matter of seconds
-earth probably full of radiations which doesn't affect people and enhanced animals anymore
-probably some mammoths and other unknown species created by humans
-people have fun via virtual vacations
    -humanoids robots live with humans
-probably that hordes of nano robots rules our world
-everybody can communicate with and understand everybody
-ability to predict the future with high levels of certainty and control over the physics of the environment
-no more global warming on Earth
-cities on and in oceans, on Earth
-humans fly like superman (very far fetch but as it is what people want solutions will probably be found probably via a flying suit or wings?)
-invisibility of objects and people (here are the ghost and god-like stories)

Thanks to sticks and stones, cyclists will win the war against pedestrians and car drivers, reaching 50% rideshare globally
