if you need to be cheaper, go to universal cycles, lots of chainrings there. pake comes to mind, but smallest is 44t http://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...&category=4155

If you don't mind using a 3/32" ring, EBay always has a ton. For many years, the small chainring on road bikes was a 42T rather than a 39T, so there are plenty of cheap takeoffs.
