ive heard of 250-300 cal an hour. shot blocks are 100 calories for 3. i did forget to add the gu brew...so i might be around 1100 cal, +/- 100 cal. i was mainly concerned about bonking on south gate since i had left the car on north gate. plus the sandwich was consumed when i had already but everything away in the car...i didnt want it to go to waste.

Makes sense. I usually get in a good breakfast and then try to ride around 2-3 hours after that. If I do that I can summit with pretty much nothing other than water (NG to summit is 65 mins for me tho)...maybe a gel or electrolytes if I start feeling low on energy. If I do another attempt then I'll start taking in calories as normal. Take it fwiw.

Yea that sounds like a good idea. But when I do "challenging" rides I can't really eat each much cause I'm too anxious. I feel like when I was getting ready for high school baseball games. For breakfast I usually just put the food in my mouth and my brain tells my mouth to chew. When I do my normal 2-3hr rides I usually have a good breakfast and don't take any food and I feel fine. But my nerves aren't going crazy...it's just another normal day for me. I guess I need to get rid of the early ride anxiety.

I'll wager that as you get used to these kinds of longer climbing efforts you'll find you need to eat less. That seems pretty common and is certainly my experience. Good job though, 2x should be very doable for you.
