Anyone doing Chico Velo on the 29th of April?

Wife and I are doing the 100K on the tandem, although if the temperatures are moderate I'm going to lobby for the century. In any event we've got to climb Honey Run, the toughest of the climbs. I understand the second climb on the 100mi can get pretty warm.

We're a lot stronger than two years ago so I expect we'll only get passed by 300 singles instead of 500 on the climb.

I've been watching the long range weather forecast and it looks promising with a front passing through just before that Sunday. I've got my fingers crossed.

I've done it in the past. It's a fun ride, with great support. That second climb will get your attention. The hard part was getting around the cyclists who just got tired and stopped where they were on the road.
WANTED: Not a darn thing. I've got it all. Life is good.

Noobs. What they should do is bring bungee cords and hook them to the bikes of skinny bastards flying up that hill.
I see hills.... Bring them on!!!

I did the Wildflower for many years - mostly on a single but also once on a tandem - stopped doing it about 7 years ago as the last two times they were out of water at the top of Table Mountain and low on food at the lunch stops. Of course we got later starts than we probably should have - but still that's unacceptable. The climbs are formidable - but nothing too hard - unless it gets hot and Table Mountain is pretty much exposed the whole way up. The first climb up Humboldt Road isn't hard - but the road used to be in horrible condition. Unless they fixed the road on the descent from Table Mountain - it was pretty beat up as well.

The last part of the ride is pretty boring through the orchards and depending on the winds - can be a heavy side wind or head wind - but i've never had a tail wind home. We usually bailed at mile 75 or so and took the bike trail back in making it about a 90 mile ride or so.
