26650 Battery holder...I'm giving up on finding one Help?

I'm giving up on finding a 26650 4x battery holders (14.4v) and will use instead 18650 batteries instead...unless someone knows where I can find some.

I want to power 12v auto horn and a bank of strobing LEDS & other lights with a unified power source on my bike....I'm giving up on 12 SLA....I had a nice collection I used for video lights but they've all died.

I want to use non-tabbed cells in a spring loaded holder so when not biking the Batteries can be used in flashlights.

LAST CHANCE! anyone know of a good 26650 4x battery holder? If not let me know what 18650 4x holder you like.

US suppliers preferred.

Man, you are building something awesome, I tell you that!! A 4x26650 anything is hard to find. I thought the Intellcharger would hold 4x26650, but it won't. Only 2. No matter. BTW, from just a glance, it looks like the triple cree is not as bright as the Keygos M10. However, I think the flood from the triple is a killer. Making it even better.. Will see. Going to try to do a test, even if it is just indoors.

the center 'hot spot' of the triple cree is....??? broad? It's useful. I prefer it to a smaller brighter hot spot.

I'm going to mount an alumium 'project box' to the handlebar to contain power and electronics AND then mount the 4x LED strobing panels (14" x 5") to the front.

This will be aluminum and custom made. It's going to be over the top. I will post pix.

The decision has been made to go with Li-ion 14.4v on board power.

You should try asking on mtbr.com or candlepowerforums.com or budgetlightforum.com in the DIY sections. I'm sure there are people who build DIY lights and know where to find these little gems. 26650 is still pretty rare although it does seem to be growing rather slowly.

Last night I mounted the triple cree on a bike and took a two mile ride in the dark. You are right on, the bright spot is not smaller and brighter than a couple other lights I have, but the spill is nice and covers a LOT. I can't wait to see your setup with double triples up front. And like I already told you, the two fish copies are right on the money..

Maybe the reason no one uses a 4x26650 holder is that "size matters." Cells as large as 26650 would require more spring tension to hold them securely.

Have you thought of making a holder using PVC? If you are going to use them 2s 2p - two pipes strapped together doesn't sound hard.

Looking forward to comparison beam shots - will go look at CP forum.....

Batteryspace does make a single 26650 holder with leads. You will need to buy four and wire them in series and hold them together to make a single pack. This holder does not have any protection built in so if you want the pack to be protected, you will either have to add a protection circuit or use protected 26650 cell.

The other holder you listed from batteryspace for 4 18650 is fine to use with 18650. It does have it's limitation. The spacing between the ends are not wide enough to fit battery with proteccted PCB, but that should not matter since the holder has it's own PCB. I was barely able to fit non protected Panasonic NCR18650 2900 mah battery into the holder.

I see that you are planning to run a horn and other misc LED with 4 26650 or 4 18650 batteries. You posted in the OT the voltage as 14.4 volt. Are you planning to use a regulator circuit? Reason for asking is that the final charge for 4 26650 or 4 18650 is 16.8v. The nominal volt will drop to an average of 14.8v for nominal 3.7 volt cell or 14.4v for 3.6v nominal cell. However, it will remain at the higher voltage for a while before sagging down to the niminal voltage. You will stand a chance of burning things up if you don't have a regulator circuit of some sort.

I have a 3D printer, if you give me dimensions of the cell, there's a parametric 18650 holder up on Thingiverse, I may be able to modify it for the other battery dimensions and print one for you.
I'm going to be printing an 18650 holder myself that's integrated into a camera holder and a spot for a voltage regulator board.

Hi, Thanks for pointing this detail out to me

When I was using SLA batteries they'd come off the charger at 14 volts....a properly charged car battery is about 14 v.

I was just going to assume that the led panels I got from ebay would be tolerant of a ...??? 10% fluctuation of voltage? I DO have the experience of running them at lower voltage as the battery wears down as part of testing out the new hardware.

The project requires 4 panels for the front and 3 for the rear of the bike using 3 controllers. I ordered 4 sets of lights giving me 4 controllers and 8 panels.

I may test the battery supply with the extra panel and the extra controller now that you pointed this out.

BTW I am going to use 18650 cells instead of 26650 just because finding a battery holder will be easier and I do want to be able to use (and charge) the cells outside of the bike system.

I will use protected cells and unfortunately as you pointed out the holder I referred to will not accept them....the search continues.
