Way overpriced , in my opinion. Tires look ok, but I'd guess it needs a lot of TLC. I had one very similar for a short while and the 103 actually had a better feel than I expected. FWIW, sold it 6 months ago for $200.

after some research, i -think- it's an '83 P8.
think i'll go check it out and see if it fits. will definitely haggle with cash in hand.
the bike market around here is slow and limited. may be too good to pass up.
Carbolite indicates Peugeot's low-end mass-market steel frames. Bikes like this were common on college campuses during the 1970s and 1980s. They were a big step up from the Schwinns of that day, but not as nice as the chro-mo Japanese frames that soon took over the market.
Peugeot switched from French threading to English threading sometime during the late 1980s. Replacement French threaded components can be hard to find and expensive.
so it's likely French threaded. hmmm...

Oh, yeah! This is not only way overpriced, it's a bear to work on if you don't have the required french tools to work on it. Not a great choice for you unless you would like to stick to french bikes, and don't mind spending the dough to get the tools (some are vintage and made of unobtainium).
Bike is way overpriced. Possibly late enough to be British thread. No special tools required to work on this particular Frenchie.
Around here, that would be about a $100 bike.
Your choice whether you want it that badly (priced higher in NY, of course.)

Looks something like an 1982ish Peugeot P8. Preety much the base level sport/tour bike they had back then.
Carbolite frame is a good, sturdy and nice riding frame, but not $275 nice as a bike. Threading and component sizes will most likely be French, as Swiss was present for BBs, but I don't think that it dominated in the Peugeot line at any time. The bike looks to be in very good original condition, but I wouldn't price it more than about hundred bucks (give or take $15) too, and that price should mean it would be road ready.

The bike is a P8. It's not bad but clearly not worth $275. If I were looking for an old French bike, I'd go for the Peugeot UO-8 or UO-10 both of which were classics and could take seriously fat tires for a road bike; the P8 not so much. The bike definitely is not swiss threaded since that was true only of their upper end bikes. And swiss threading just refers to the BB. Not that much of a bear to work on, IMHO, but the bike is clearly not worth the asking price.
You want a Peugeot? Take your pick for a hundred bucks each, plus shipping...
