2011 jamis ventura sport femme

Hi all,

I recently purchased a 2012 specialized hybird vita elite which i love but i noticed it is not ideal when riding with someone who has a road bike so now i am looking for a road bike...nothing fancy. I rode with a friend who has a road bike and I had to work much harder with my hybrid to keep up. On my hybrid i can do prob about 25 miles comfortably but i am looking to longer distances more efficiently. I think a road bike would be great for more speed and more distance correct?

I dropped about $800 on the hybrid so I am looking to not spend much on a road. My LBS has a 2011 jamis ventura sport femme that is a floor model (slightly used). The MSRP is 650. They quoted me 580 taxes included. I read some reviews about this bike and people seem pleased. Just would like some opinions on this bike and for what I want to use it for. Is 580 a good price or should i try an haggle a little more considering it is the floor model and a 2011? also, is 22 pounds heavy for a road bike or about right? will i notice a significant difference between the hybrid and road?

22 lbs is about average for a low priced road bike. I have a 2007 Jamis Ventura Comp and I rented your bike (in the mens version when I was in Florida over the winter). Its a decent bike. You probably can get the shop to lower their price or give you something to take a sample model off their hands.

If you are road riding, you will notice a big difference between the two bikes.

Jamis make awesome bikes, I would recomend them ( I own 2)

I agree Jamis makes a fine bike. I would have to say if you can get a Comp instead of a Sport, you'll get a far better bike for not much more.

Looks like a nice bike, don't see how you could go wrong. I've had two Jamis bikes, well finished and well equipped for the price point.

The shifters and derailuers are a mix of 2300 and Sora which are on the low-end which you'd expect at that price. As long as you don't mind that I think it's a good entry level bike. If you like how your hybrid shifts the Ventura is pretty comparable spec-wise.

I bought the bike today. thanks for all your opinions. tried to attach a pic but having difficulty! bought it for 580 tax inc. she threw in two water bottle holders and took 20$ of the clip peddles. not bad. happy with the bike (:

I took it out the other day and fell in love. did a quick 20 miles before work and it was great. fast, love the red, and smooth. not bad $580! thank you everyone! the seat was a lil uncomfortable but either ill get used to it or ill replace it (:

My wife is in the market for a new road bike and she is looking at the bike you bought as well. My question is: does the femme version realy offer an advantage for a female rider?

The dimensions are different. Would a man ride a womens bike? Lol prob not. It's a great entry level bike. No complaints

To anyone else who owns this bike, have any of you tried slamming the stem. If so, how did that process work out for you? Anyone find an ultra-thin headset bearing dust cover that fits perfectly? Or will I have to be the official guinea pig.

Congrats on the new bike, Jamis is a great company. I started off with a hybrid Coda Sport, am now commuting on a Sputnik, and just picked up a 2011 Satellite Sport for my daughter for X-Mas. I think you get great "bang for the book" with Jamis.
