    Proud new H6R owner... Finally!

    Hey folks.

I'm sure there is no shortage of posts like this, but I'm too excited not to share. Here is my new H6R in British racing green with Biocork Ergon, a brown Selle Anatomica, and the T-bag. I'm 6'1 with back problems and the upright position of the H stem seems to be perfect. It puts me in a similar position, if not slightly more upright, as my Surly Long Haul Trucker.

So far, I am thoroughly impressed. It's amazing to me that a bike that has 3 major hinges can feel so solid while riding. Another thing that impressed me was Brompton's clever inclusion of Brompton business cards presumably to hand out to curious pedestrians. I've already used up two .

A side note: For any of you who are Redditors, I have started a Brompton subreddit. It's still a small community, but I'd love to see it grow. Feel free to subscribe and add your favorite Brompton content (provided it's not already posted).

    Congratulations! Looks really nice!
2012 Brompton H6L raw lacquer, hub dynamo lights, eazy wheels, C bag. Spotted an incredibly small folded bike by chance in a bike store photo and had to find out what that bike was...a week later of obsessed daily research, I had my own Brompton!
Post-purchase mods: Ergon GP-1 biokork (grip shift version in S), Lightweights spoke reflectors, Sherpani Pasea saddle bag.

Ahh, I see a box Kleenex! It must be so much tears of joy having a beautiful newborn that it's good to have a box full on standby!

Very nice and congrats on your new purchase!

Thanks, haha. You may notice that I started the subreddit before I owned one!

    Very nice bike!

The saddle and the handlebar are at about the same level. I would think that for an upright position the handelbar should be higher.

Pulled it up to take the picture, but may not be the exact riding height, perhaps?

Yes, this is true. But my correct saddle height is probably only a half inch lower. I'm around 6'2 so I figured the H bars put the saddle and bars at about the same level which is what I'm accustomed to. I found the M bars to be too low with too much pressure on my wrists.

The Brompton folding video on your Brompton subreddit is really great!

Very nice. Did you have to cut the GP1 to make them fit? Did you get the small or large size GPs?

I did have to cut the GP-1 to make them fit. I cut the better part of an inch off the insides. Wasn't too difficult with a cheap hacksaw. I would have bought the grip shift version like fietsbob suggested but could not find any in-stock in Toronto. Also, I did go for the large. My hands aren't huge but after feeling both the small and large, something about the extra girth was appealing.

I have to admit, after a couple days of ownership and showing off at work, I am practically a Brompton salesperson. I have the whole pitch down pat. People seem to be most impressed when I demonstrate the "Brompton shopping cart mode". They also enjoy playing the game, "guess where my bike is hidden in this tiny office"

I usually ask that they get what I want , if they did not have it in stock ,

guess I'm not in that big of a hurry, being Old.

Thanks. I suspect I will end up doing the same.
