Eye protection

I always wear safety glasses. Fortunately, i have an unlimited supply of them through work.

I did purchase a pair at home depot once (to have a tinted pair), but they did have a high amount of optical distortion. I ended up never using them and always use the clear kind i get at work (they are probably less than $5 each, but i don't really know what brand). I wear a mountain bike style helmet and I've found that the small front visor is typically enough for sunlight.

So, about the allergy drops - I do have bad allergies and use both a prescription nasal spray and OTC eye drops.

I also have issues with my eyes being dry which usually isn't too much trouble but with wind it dries my eyes out quickly, thus the need for more coverge from my glasses. One day I actually forgot my sunglasses altogether because it was dark and overcast, and when I got to work one eye had no white left - it was all blood red with a blister on one spot.

I wear safety glasses when it's cloudy or at night, otherwise I wear my safety sunglasses. Bottom line - my eyes are valuable enough to me to spend $5 on protecting them.

Found the ones I use on Amazon - I got mine through work, so they were significantly cheaper because they order them in bulk.


My route is very close the dunes, so for me it's mostly sand that gets kicked up by the wind, or by cars.

That should be marketed to commuters.

Thanks but nothing to market really, I bought a grinding full face at the local supply store (home depot, etc.) I modified it a bit, took just what I needed, drilled 2 holes in the helmet to fix it. took me about 45 min.

If I ever decide I need full face protection, I'm not going to mess around.
