    1980/81 Fuji Monterey mixte

    Hi all,

My girlfriend is looking to get rid of this bike. It's either a 1980 or 1981, I believe (I have to check the serial number). All parts are original, as far as I know. The frame is in really great shape. It has brand new tubes, tires, cables, housing, and handlebar tape. Everything has been tuned up/adjusted. And I will polish up the chrome and what not before actually selling it.

I know this is a low-level Fuji, but I'm just wondering what a reasonable asking price on Craigslist would be. We are in Albany, NY, so it is not a bike market the likes of Chicago or DC or Portland, or anything, but vintage bikes usually do sell. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah it's a low end bike, but the condition is good and it's nice and shiny. For many buyers in this range, nice and shiny means more than high quality. I have sold similar bikes for $75-100 so that's what I'd expect you could get out of this one, maybe more in Albany.

Also, this is not a mixte but simply a woman's frame bicycle. Mixtes have the top tube running all the way down to the rear dropouts so that there are three sets of rear stays.

Thanks, FastJake. And thanks for the correction on the mixte thing. Sorry about the misinformation, everyone! Still learning about this business...

$75 to $100 sounds about right. It is just a normal, entry-level bike, but it is a decent one.
