Tire choice for Mineral Wells trailway

Planning to ride the full length (both ways) Mineral Wells trail way in a few weeks on my Schwinn Crosscut. Wide 700c rims, drop bars, no suspension. It's currently equipped with semi-slick 38mm city/street tires. I also have a pair of 33mm cyclocross tires with a low pyramid tread in the middle with knobs along the outside.

So, for those who have ridden parts of the trailway, which would you take?

Ride it several times a year on anythin...mountain, tandem, touring, road bikes. Mountain bike, 32mm Schwalbe Marathon tourings, Gatorskins, Continental Top Contacts, it doesn't really matter. Qualify that....I haven't ridden it since last summer.

Either will be fine. I've ridden it loaded on 32's very comfortably

Either will work since it is mostly hard packed gravel. But there is some soft sand stretches near the Mineral Wells end that extra traction would be helpful.

Decided to throw on the 33 Clement's over the weekend. The extra clearances over the 38's will be good if I encounter any mud along the way. Rear chain stays and fork crown clearance with the 38's was a bit tight in places and any really thick clay mud had the possibility of jamming up the wheel. Also got the rear rack put back on the bike for the truck I bought to hold my camera, extra shirt, food, etc.

Here's the bike with the Specalized 38's and without the rack installed:

We took the trail one way and the country roads back. I enjoyed riding Maddux & Old Garner Roads better: more scenic and interesting. YMMV
