Definitions of "decent rando bike" are very personal and all over the place so you're really the only person who can answer that question. But I'm sure others will jump in with strong opinions one way or the other. The fact is that just about anything with wheels can be a decent rando bike for the right someone.
The bike I've been riding on brevets this year is a '82 Trek 311 which is probably fairly similar in many regards to a late 80s Fuji League. There are lighter, faster, stiffer, more vertically compliant, waaay more expensive and cooler looking bikes, but I'm as happy on that bike as I have been on other bikes I've used for randonneuring. For what that's worth.

I used to do brevets on a 70's Peugeot and it worked fine for me for a few years. There is nothing wrong with older bikes as long as they fit you properly.
It doesn't get harder, you just go slower.
