Is it safe to hang cannondale trail 5 mountain bike from ceiling in garage?

Hey there. I was wondering if it is safe to hang my wife's Cannondale trail 5 mountain bike upside down from the ceiling? It has one of those adjustable front forks. I think its just a spring in there. So there is no fluid that could drain out? Is that right? Thanks guys.

I'd be careful . . . Cannondale, being mainly an East Coast-oriented brand, is susceptible to the atmospheric pressures of altitude. Hang one too high and the tubes might implode.

You'll need to hire a structural engineer to have to look at the size of the ceiling joists in the garage and their spacing. Single or double sill? Is the garage roof rafter or truss construction? What is the roof pitch and snow/wind load rating for your area? If you do all the load calculations, and it turns out that the structure can safely bear the weight of the bike, you're good to go.

Not to mention factoring in the other variables, such as it having a SunRace M66 cogset.

If it can deal with the dynamic forces of you jumping off a curb, it can certainly deal with the static forces of its own weight.

If you hang a C-Dale upside-down in your garage overnight, wait until daylight to pull it back down, otherwise it will bite you in the throat, and Blade will be after your ass....
