    Lucky no one was hurt

It does appear to me that the rider with the camera landed hard on his helmet. Both cyclists could have easily been hurt much worse obviously.

Lots of posters on SF Gate are drawing an comparison between a cyclist running a stop sign on a slightly uphill RH turn (while checking the intersection first) and a driver hit and running a cyclist. My conclusion is that some drivers are so jealous of cyclists that inane remarks follow.

His parents have hired the best lawyers money can buy; he'll need them. The DA has decided to pursue felony charges based upon the evidence, one piece of which was video.

I've ridden in SF for decades; you used to just do what you had to to survive. Now a lot of kids view being a hooligan as part of their birthright. It's pretty effed up.

The stops signs on The Uplands...yeah it didn't look good, but it is a well-traveled bike route so a lot of local drivers give them the nod because despite what the video looks like it is pretty steep when your legs are cold at the start of the ride.

Doesn't make blowing them right, just explaining the local culture. Riders use this route to avoid Tunnel/13 for the obvious reason the vid shows. People in the hood may or may not like it, but generally they get along.

From the article in the link above:
Medaglia had reported his car stolen the day of the crash to the Oakland Police Department, and Berkeley police placed an alert on the vehicle.

Oakland police found the car that had been reported stolen and later found its owner, Medaglia, at a the Jack London Inn at 444 Embarcadero West, police said.

When police entered Medaglia's hotel room, they arrested him on charges of possession of a heroin, felony possession of ammunition, violation of probation and a felony hit-and-run.
That pretty well sums up the kind of person who runs into cyclists with a car, especially when it appears to be on purpose. I'll bet his driving record is a beaut too.

And let's hope making a false police report and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill will add another 30 years to his jail time.

The story made the Drudge Report. Drudge's headline is, "Bicycle handlebar cam nabs hit-and-run driver...". The hyperlink goes to a CBS News article:

Video captures Calif. hit-and-run, leads to arrest

I can't believe some of the ignorant comments. People saying that cyclists should only ride around their block or on MUPs. We still have a lot of educating to do.

The one comment on road cyclists needing to sell their bikes, get mountain bikes, and stick to the trails was rather humorous. We've got a lot more to do than just educating.

It's kind of amazing because this is really just representative of what we all know but is huge because it's on tape.

Hopefully this has some positive effect in driver behavior, but this guy was no doubt stoned out of his mind or whatever.

As an aside I tweeted the link to the vid shortly after I was posted to the EBBC, no response. A few hours later they had retweeted someone else's tweet of the vid. The second (eve?) I see Renee Rivera on the tube giving her "expert" advice.

I'm all for bike coalitions and am a member of two and maybe there's an explanation for why they took so long to respond/not respond, but it's stuff like this that makes me scratch my head wrt to their mission, which I read as "primarily to promote cycling and infrastructure". That's great, but that shouldn't be your sole mission.
