RHINE: birdy copy with 20" wheels

Rhine seems to be a Birdy with 20" wheels.

This is available in the philippines from this website: http://peerlessbike.blogspot.com/201...lfway-p18.html

I am not connected to them in anyway, I just thought it was an interesting foldie.

    Nice!
    Not bad for <$800.

    Note:
I used this site http://coinmill.com/PHP_calculator.html#PHP=29,800 for denomination conversion. ' not sure if it's current.

I liked how they made some trolley wheels so you can push it around like the bromptons. I don't think the real birdys even have that trolley wheel. This version seems much more user friendly for multi mode commuting.

    rhine-folded.jpg

did a mockup of the folded rhine vs folded birdy based on wheelsize, seems that the 20" wheels make a bit of a difference as one would expect. At arond 630usd for the "low-end" and 730 for the higher spec, it's looking good.

Funny thing is I like the look of the rhine better, its more in line with the titanium version of the birdy and has that rough industrial look. really nice!

A full suspension 20" folding bike with a brompton style trolley rack? what more can I ask for? Actually I would be nice to have a distributor in North america!

It looks to be a dead ringer of the Classic framed 20" Birdy, which they marketed for just a short while. Funny that the only reference I can find is from the outfit in the Philippines, maybe they snapped up Pacific's inventory and had them rebadged. Seems it would be less costly then trying to clone them in their entirety as the components look original. Even the name seems a nod at R&M.

R&M does offer a wheel kit for their Expedition rack, but this one looks more like the wheeled racks sold in Japan. First time i've seen the wheeled fender, very Bromptonish.

Would be interesting to see one in the flesh. At the given price it would be a deal if a rebadged Birdy, which is marketed as the BD-1 and Bianchi Fretta in Japan. I have seen their 14" wheel sets and other accessories on ebay, so maybe they'll toss these on as well.

Unfortunately there are no distributors for Birdy left in the Western Hemisphere, and the few dealers listed in the US don't really stock much.
