    Staying strong.

The other day I was out for a ride to clear my head. Lots of things going on in my life right now. I stopped for a powerbar and some water at a coered picnic table. Another man much older than me (I'm 56) stopped there for a break as well. We talked for a minute and I found out that he is 82 years old and training for the Senior Olympics. He does 30 miles twice a week so he can keep a 15 mph average. He says that should get him in the medals in his age group. WOW and I though pulling a 17-18 mph for me was doing something good. Never know who your going to meet on the bike path.

Go for it while you can, is my motto. Things worked out for me the the last Tour de Mesa last week and I got a silver. Not sure how many more I will be able to do but I will keep trying.

That is awesome. I have been asked "Why are you riding a bike at your age? When will you stop?" (yes, I am serious!) I respond, with my best, no-emotion face, "When they bury me".
I've been thinking though, of responding with a question: "When will you stop eating at McDonald's?" Nah, better not.

With your passion for cycling and your vitality, I think it is entirely possible.

Was on a bike tour last year in Vermont - hilly teritory for sure. There was an older guy who was more than holding his own with the group. I asked him how old he was and he told me 75. Runs Falmouth every year. Definately showed me that with a little luck we can all be out there,

You can't control how old you are. All you can control is what you do today.
