Aussie tourist ride report - Mulholland Highway

    howdy!

Back in later March I was passing through LA on my way home from a vacation in Mexico, and took a day out to do a quick ride along PCH through Malibu and up Mulholland Highway - ride report here : http://laidcycling.blogspot.com.au/2...ulholland.html

I have to say that you've got some amazing roads in California and I can't wait to come back and see/ride more!

That's a nice report. Thanks for the compliments. Some times, heck, pretty often, we complain about our roads. It's good to have an outsider's perspective to give us a reality check.

Enjoyed the write up. I live an hours drive from those roads and I haven't bothered to go...maybe I should give them a try.

Just ride the Mulholland Challenge next year for a wonderful tour of the challenging climbs in the area. Plus it's well supported even if you don't have the personal support that Mark had.

+1... as long as it doesn't rain, I intend to ride it again next year. Such beautiful sights and good support.

I want to come back to SoCal for this ride! We have some amazing coastal roads, and some beautiful climbs, but they're not really achievable in the one outing.

Check out the "3 Peaks Challenge" for our counterpart : http://www.cyclingtips.com.au/2011/0...nd-tour-stage/

The scenery is absolutely stunning, something that's easy to take for granted if it's in your backyard - I do it all the time with the vistas we have at our fingertips in Australia. Kinglake and Mount Dandenong are some beautiful areas pretty much in my backyard (and make for awesome 50-110km round trips)

Nice ride report! If you wanted even better view, you could have gone up Little Sycamore Rd. from the top of Mulholland Hwy:

It's nice living less than 10 miles away from all these climbs, I can ride to the beach and back anytime I want!
