    Off the bike for awhile

Hi All, Long story short, I broke my left big toe yesterday. Stupid mistake combining heavy objects and being barefooted and somewhere in my life experiances I should've learned better.

So for awhile: no bicycles, no motorcycles and no toy car (manual transmission). I feel an over all service of all of the bikes is in the near future.

A lot of sympathy from here, just got over a great toe injury. Hoe it heals well and completely.

Good luck with that. 15 years after injuring mine in JiuJitsu sparring, it still (even worse now) gives me great grief.

I'd be sorely tempted <pun intended> to take a utility knife to an old pair of cycling shoes, and keep riding.

Wasn't given a time frame (it must be a small break), but I'm tinkering with ways to stabilize the toe inside a shoe.

So far for just walking I'm using a cardboard 'spacer' and some tape... not too bad, but if I can get the walking part down then riding is soon to follow.

I have a prediabetic ulcer on my big toe, and my podiatrist had me cut off the sole where the toe would be, so it can flex down without rubbing . Might talk to the doc about ways around the problem .

How about Shimano cycling sandals? I want me a pair myself.
