I have an Easton EC90 Aero all carbon fork. The steerer tube has what looks like a small cutout in the carbon fiber. It appears to have the serial number stamped into it. But I thought breaking the carbon fiber was not a good idea? So, do any of you having Easton EC90's have this same window with serial number on the steerer? Just want some confirmation this is how Easton made it and not something done later.
Here is the picture and the area inside the yellow circle is my concern. The paper sticker with the red dot has the same number on it. The other has FOS followed by that number. Any help figuring this out is much appreciated.
To anyone who might have the same question in the future, I emailed Easton and got the following reply:
Thank you for your inquiry. I forwarded your picture to our product manager and have received back the response. The fork is made that way. It is not a cut into the carbon, but it is a small square of fiberglass on top.
