    nitto risers - grip issues

So I ordered some nitto b-260 risers. Turns out these bars have a 23.8 OD. So my oury lock ins are a no go since the clamp size on those is 22.2.

So a few questions answered would be great.

    1) What kind of grips do people generally use with nitto risers?

    2) Are there any lock in grips for a 23.8 bar diameter? Have been googling around and cant seem to find anything.

    3) 23.8 vs 24.0. I thought these were basically the same and interchangeable. But the odd thing is I have a 24.0 brake lever clamp and its too big. Not a big deal to add a little shim, but that further confuses me since now it seems 23.8 and 24.0 levers are NOT the same. I understand this last question is a bit off topic, but if anyone could chime in, it would be great.

    Thanks.

Can't just use the Ourys without the locks? A little WD-40 and my grips stick nicely to my risers.

Yeah, was going to try just regular oury, since I know they will squeeze on. But hoping I can find a clamp in that size.

That isn't what I meant regarding the numbers. Of course they aren't the same. 23.8 and 24.0 are completely different numbers. Just like 1 and 2 are different numbers. What I meant is the way manufacturers describe these. I have seen the exact same brake lever on one site labeled as 24 and on another site labeled 23.8. They are the exact same lever.

24.0 and 23.8 are commonly used to describe the same handlebar diameter, for where the shifters and brake levers fit.

But the problem is they aren't. My 24mm clamp fits my road bars anywhere. But doesn't fit these 23.8 bars. I can use it with a basic shim (piece of pop can actually worked perfect) which I understand. What i don't understand is why there is such confusion over these 2 sizes. Some say they are exactly the same, then why the different labels. That was all I was asking.

Have you actually measured the diameter of the bars with a caliper?

My friend has a 24mm diameter brake lever on his B260AA without any issues.

I use standard oury and the basket weave looking VO grips, no problems sticking with a touch of wd40, which I learned from someone here

Yeah, they are 23.8 all the way around. Same with the Nitto 002.

Now my nitto road bars are taped, but the 24.0mm clamp fits perfect wherever there is no tape.

I also have some generic drops that came with the bike. They aren't taped. The middle section is 25.4mm for the stem, then tapers down to 24.0mm for clamp, then right before the bar starts to curve it goes to 23.8mm.

Anyways, I just used the regular oury's. A drop of water helped me slide them on, and let them dry for a day and they seem pretty right on there. Used a homemade shim for the brake clamp. I would guess the slightly larger diameter on this bar, 23.8 vs 22.2 would make the oury's stay put better. I won't know until I get caught in the rain someday.

Was just hoping there would be a way to get the lock in to work with this bar, but doesn't seem possible.

    Thanks.
