* Ethanol (denatured alcohol) 76k btu/gallon
* Methanol (HEET) 56k btu/gallon
There are many posts regarding the efficiency of these fuels in stoves, but as I experienced and staephj1 mentioned, alcohol has fewer BTUs per gallon than gasoline. That doesn't necessarily mean that gasoline stoves are superior, but it does affect both the weight of the fuel you'll carry and the time it takes to boil water.
