How important is STI shifting to you?

I always wonder about this. I mean, I prefer the paddles on my ultegra /105s too. But....

Why do I hear so many people hating on Sora thumb shifters but so much oooooing & awwwing over Campy stuff with the same thumb shifters????

I could never reach them in the drops, and they didn't trim worth a darn either. I ended up with 6600 so I can't comment on campy thumb shifters.

Go with these: http://retroshift.com/ Pretty good solution. Friction shift STI's.

Those are so the bomb yo... if I build up a classic and actually don't want down tube shifters... I am totally going retroshift... btw they also come indexed...

Excellent idea. This stuff works really well, it's fully compatible with Shimano 7800, 6600, and 5600 (for a supply of cassettes and replacements if needed), and the price is right.
