    Bergen County's 9W is a World-Class Cycling Destination

    A very popular ride in the NYC area. Just seems to keep getting more popular every year. I can remember riding this route back in the day when is was just me and a few other weirdos riding on bikes with those funny turned down handlebars. This is from today's Bergen Record.



    Hundreds of spandex-clad New Yorkers, their colorful jerseys representing tribal affiliation — NY Velocity, Team Lipstick, Asphalt Green — roll into Fort Lee each weekend when the weather warms. They join throngs of New Jersey cyclists all pedaling toward the same destination: 9W, the U.S. highway that is among the nation's most traveled cycling routes.

    It's mostly people from NYC. Not exactly "world class" just convenient.

    Seeing things like this make me really wish I had gotten into cycling back when I was a cadet up there, not years later after I had left. That place looks pretty great for riding.

    Holy puffy cycling jackets! Those guys are working much harder than they have to considering how they need to overcome a parachute slowing them down. This is why I make sure I buy cold weather gear that stays warm and fits tight.

    Im from the area. I used to live in downtown Nyack, where it all comes together. A lot of those guys come from NYC looking to get into the bicycling scene, with their uber high end bikes. Some are serious riders. But its all a lot of badge and showing off.

    Years ago, when I started on this route, I was riding a Schwinn Varsity.

    Yea i wanna take my frankenstein build on it. Never rode it though. I live more inland now. but not far at all.
