English 3-speed stem & handlebar question

I'm changing the bars on my '46 Raleigh Sports to some with the modern standard (I think) 1" / 2.54cm clamp section.

Am I right in thinking that the original Raleigh stem clamp will be too small? If so, does anyone make a replacement quill stem which looks the same as the old one? All the ones I've come across have either been adjustable, or with a long right-angle section at the top (what's that called?).

I'm looking for a "new standard" version of this:
    - Nick (AKA Nerdy Norm, don't ask!)

    1949 Raleigh Sports (keeping original)
1946 Raleigh Sports (too tatty, plan to "modernise")
early 50s Raleigh Sports frame (path-racer build)
early 40s Raleigh Superbe frame (what to do?)

The clamp section of British stems depended on the handlebar material used. Stems for Steel handlebars are 23.8mm (15/16") in diameter. As far as I know, your best bet for something similar in 25.4mm (1") is by going through the spares for Dutch bikes.

According to this site, the stems available tend to be longer with 190mm and 300mm and 400mm heights.

Thanks, that's absolutely perfect! I've ordered the 30cm version, as my standard one was at the top of its adjustment anyway.
