You haven't seen enough of the city then...Sure the north end is scary, but the west end and areas of the mountain are quite picturesque...It's the same for most cities, you just have to look beyond...And yes the riding is fantastic!

Congratulations, Brian, and good luck in future endeavors. I've never visited the Toronto area but it's on my to-do list.

I think of Canada as being very cold. I'm wondering why 75% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the US border.

I hav found that, here in Burlington, the weather is very similar to the weather I left back in New Jersey. The springs here are a bit more unpredictable and summers do get quite hot and humid, just like back in NJ. What IS better is the way folks treat each other. I have been here since December of 2009 and have yet to meet a single person whom I have not liked, nor have I encountered any aggressive drivers when I am out riding.

Overall, my frame of mind it mush more tranquil up here, and that can't be a bad thing.

Compared to South Carolina, Canada is colder. But parts of southern Ontario are further south and more temperate than many northern states. As to why so much of the population lives within 100 miles of the southern border, well, that's where the jobs are. And the transportation infrastructure.

Well, you'd be mistaken. It's funny, the Australians have the mistaken impression that Canada is cold too. But then to be fair, I thought Australia was hot, dry, and flat.

Parts of Canada can get quite chilly in the winter ... but significant portions of Canada can get quite hot in the summer.

    Winnipeg, for example ...

But between early April and the end of October (approx. 7 months), it's really quite nice there ... even quite hot. I was there many years where the summers were long, hot, humid, and lovely. I'd have to say that the longest, hottest summers I've experienced have been in Winnipeg.

Heat rises, and Canada is above the U.S., so all the heat from the U.S. helps keep Canada warmer than you would think it should be. Especially in the eastern provinces which are north of some relatively densely populated states. The midwest and western provinces are colder, because there is less heat rising up to them from the less densely populated states.

Yes, it was a day that people remember, like where you were when Kennedy was shot, or when Challenger exploded, or when the Cubs last went to the World Series (Go Cubs!).

But more like when Leonardo conceived the bicycle. Pcad was around for inspiration

Ouch! I meant cheap as in Black Label cheap not as in inexpensive beer. Do they just tax the hell out of it up there? Probably not such a bad idea really.
