Height is only part of it. There is leg length, arm reach, top tube length, etc., etc. Compact frames are much more forgiving than of small size differences than older standard ones. But having said that, you do look a little cramped. I would say your torso is a little long for your height and the top tube on this bike is not overly long. So you appear to be extending too far over the bars, and that without fully tucking. Before doing anything else get a bike fit. See if longer stem or other modifications will suffice. If the frame is so small, it needs to be replaced, that is the beauty of ebay. You can buy a replacement, sell the old one, pay $100 to switch the parts (or do it yourself), and correct a serious problem for very little outlay, maybe none if you turn the frames around at attractive pricing. If you do make an exchange, be sure to analyze the other details of the new frame, not just the nominal size. Top tubes on 54 cm or M size can easily range from 54.5 cm to 56 cm. Big difference. Solid advice.

Having a bike fit is so important. I am finding it difficult to get the geography of you on your bike from that image and so that's why I asked if you are comfortable on it.

What should one look for in a bike fitting provider?

I don't think that i can find a bike fitting system over here. I live in Turkey and bike shops are not that much professional here, at least in my area. Actually i didn't have many options to choose from, i just liked this frame better than the others and they had only this size available and i've been advised that it should fit my size even though it'll be a bit on smaller side. And they had also warned me about my torso being longer or my legs shorter (Dammit, why am i like this?!). Whatever it is i don't feel much uncomfortable while reaching the bar or drops. Thanks for the advices, i'll get away with what i got here.

Please forgive my ignorance of retail in Turkey. Can't you simply return the bike to the shop who sold it to you? It doesn't fit. You need the next larger size up in that model.

I have an inch on you, and that is the size I would probably be on myself, but I LOVE small frames. I ride a bike that a fitter said instantly was too small for me, yet I can ride 100 miles with no problems comfortably. My dad likes to be as stretched out as humanly possible. I say if you are comfortable, then who cares, just go out and ride!

It looks alright,because you haven't long legs,so you don't have to have the seat too high.

at 5'8", a 52cm bike should be able to fit you just fine (in general).

i highly doubt its too big for you...also, please ship me some disophrol if its still made there. thanks.

I'd like to help you with disophrol but i made a research and learnt that it's banned in here. They say that it is bad for your heart.
